Some great news from the GAA & RTE, is that they are embracing technology a little and they will be streaming the conference live on the web. The GAA Games Development Conference, entitled “Optimising Playing Performance – Nurturing a culture of Skill and Will” – will take place on Friday November 20th and Saturday November 21st, in Croke Park. The conference will be viewable on the Internet live on the Saturday (21/11/2009) at www.rte.ie/gaa . They promise that the live stream will be available to all countries !
The new committee are still planning the Christmas Party, but would love to get some feedback as to when people can attend. Here is a quick poll with the 2 options, either Friday the 18th of December, or Friday the 11th of December.

Note after some feedback we have added some extra answers, and reset the voting counts (it was tied anyway). 18/11/2009

Eine Welt Haus can be found at Schwanthalerstr. 80 RGB, 80336 München (5 Min. from U-Bahn-Station Theresienwiese U 4/5, Exit Schwanthalerstraße, 10 Min. from Hauptbahnhof). The AGM is our yearly gathering to look back on the year that’s been and to look ahead and see where we can improve etc. Also, we are on the lookout for a new committee as some of us will be standing down. You should have already received an email about how you can nominate committee members (and you can also nominate yourself).

Coming Saturday, October 17th, will see the London Clonbony Ladies GAA team visiting Munich and playing a few friendly games against our own Munich Ladies. Travelling with a full squad of 24 players, the London team seems more than eager to play as it is still quite a newly founded club, so competitiveness on the pitch is guaranteed. Playing grounds at SV Gartenstadt have been already booked for 15:00 on Saturday, October 17th, but the official draw and schedule for the day is still to be announced.
You can meet the Clonbony Ladies on Facebook here or visit their short profile over here.
The game aftermath has been planned as a social event of getting together and having fun, so everybody is more than welcome to join the ladies not only as spectators during the day, but for the post-match entertainment as well. We would like to wish our ladies good luck for the games and hope for good weather conditions so that more fans and supporters can join in on the day at Gartenstadt.
The evening also offers the opportunity of attending the WildeNight Out 2009 – a charity fundraiser event organised by DIF-Bayern and kindly sponsored by the Embassy of Ireland, Berlin, and the Munich-based company Riverland Solutions GmbH. The event shall take place at the Schlachthof, Zenettistr. 9, in Munich and would offer its audience the theatrical one-man-show “In the Company of Oscar Wilde” performed by Alan Stanford, followed by live Irish music.
The Munich Colmcilles are one of the charity beneficiaries alongside with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Ireland, so we encourage everybody to join in. You can find out more about the event and purchase tickets here.
Best of luck to Eugene McVerry in the Minor (under 18) All ireland final on Sunday next in Croke Park.
Eugene is brother of David who played for us for a season and is a regular visitor to Munich.
He has had a good season so far and hopefully he does the business on Sunday again.
Yesterday the tournament was featured on Bayerischer Rundfunk with Frau Corina Halke-Teichmann, in the Sport in Bayern program. It features some interviews with Munich Colmcilles players, and some game play from the Pan European tournament.
Fresh off the presses is the draw for the games on Saturday :Munich 2009 Draw. Throw in for the first games is an early 9am so please factor in enough time to be at the grounds on time. This is a German 9am not an irish one !
The weather is supposed to be kinder to us this year but don’t forget the sun screen in case. You should all have the directions from the previous mail and the underground stop Quiddestrasse is less than 10 minutes away from the grounds. You should all turn left when leaving the train and up the stairs. This will all be signed from here on to help you get to the grounds.
