The German-Irish Society is proud to present the third Greenfarm Festival which will run over the weekend June 19.- 21. 2009. The festival takes place on an idyllic organic farm in Hallbergmoos, very near Munich and right next to the airport.
Moving forward from the success of last year’s festival, we have increased the number of bands from Germany, Ireland and Austria who are taking part, covering the wide spectrum of Irish music played by German and Irish bands bands in Germany as well as traditional German folk music played by native German bands and, of course, guest artists from Ireland. There will be a total of 5 stages; 3 open-air and 2 indoor.
The festival will also have two days of sporting events. The Munich Caledonians and The Munich Scottish Association will look after the „Highland Games“ and Scottish flinging while the Munich Colmcilles GAA Club will present Irish Hurling and football. Everyone is invited to take part in all of the games. We are also organising the Munich heat of “The Rose of Tralee” on Friday, 19. June 2009. Check into the website for full details of performing bands, artists, dance groups and events.
Among other facilities the festival offers on-site camping and parking, a free shuttle bus service from the local train station to the festival site, beer tents, sessions, workshops, organised catering, an Irish market, bathing in the on site lake, kids’ playground and an open stage for visiting musicians.
