In the searing sunshine 14 men from Munich made it to the final against the home side, and managed to take the title for the third year in a row. Munich mens played 3 games in total, all of them were tough battles of 15-minute aside games.
In the opening game, Munich managed to beat Vienna by 2-9 to 0-4, which was followed by playing a lighter Budapest squad (the were missing some key players) where the score was 6-9 to 2-3. In previous years in Vienna it had always down poured in the final, but this year the Sun Gods were a little kinder and we avoided the rain. Munich managed to win by 5-10 to 1-4 in the end, with some great plays from both sides. Munich mens also possessed the player of the tournament, Todd Shopnikolov, who got some fantastic scores.

Some Thanks

A big thanks to the lads for pulling together and travelling the 1,000km in one day (Thanks: aido, mel, daire, paul s, paul mc, matt, micko, noelie, andy, donal, todd, henno, fergal & charlie). The standard of referring was great (as always) and a big thanks to Tony Bass for keeping us all in line. Again the organisation from Vienna was 2nd to none, a big thanks to Fiona O’Carrol and her team in Vienna for putting on a successful event.

Our next challenge will be on home turf, with the Munich tournament which will be held on June 23rd in Gartenstadt. See you there !
